Tom Hardy Says He Would Love to Play The Punisher!

Tom Hardy is a great actor and has a knack for playing comic book characters. He played Bane in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises and just missed out on playing Rick Flag in Suicide Squad. It sounds like Hardy still has the comic book bug though! Collider posted an excerpt from their chat with the Hardy, and he expressed strong interest in portraying Frank Castle A.K.A. The Punisher!

Collider: I heard Warner Bros. has a few more superhero movies, maybe one or two that they’re developing [Laughs].

HARDY: I want The Punisher… I want The Punisher, or Splinter Cell, I want something…I don’t know what I want.

You as Punisher could be very interesting.

HARDY: I’m not big enough to be The Punisher, I’m 5’9” [Laughs].

But I actually think that adds to the character.

HARDY: Frank Castle, I would love it. Is that him, isn’t it?
Yeah. It’s Frank Castle.

It’s no secret that Hardy has had discussions with Marvel in the past, so it’s not so ridiculous to think that he could be involved in a Marvel featured project.  Marvel now has the rights to the character back but many fans are not sure what Marvel plans to do with The Punisher. Your guess is as good as mine, but I’m guessing The Punisher would thrive the best on a tv format like we have seen with Daredevil on Netflix. Charlie Cox (who plays the Matt Murdock/Daredevil on Netflix’s Daredevil) said recently in an interview that he would love to see Punisher included in future seasons. However, if Hardy does land a punisher role, i’m guessing it would be for a standalone movie. There’s also word that Hardy is already signed up for the Splinter Cell movie, but it seems like he cannot make up his mind as of late! What do you think? Do you believe that Hardy would make a great Punisher?

We approve, and so does Chuck.
