Poltergeist is arguably one of the most classic horror films of the 1980s….and now it’s getting a reboot!
USA Today shared the first images from the Poltergeist reboot, directed by Gil Keenan. Suposedly this is going to be a pseudo-sequel, that will open in theaters on July 24, 2015. The movie will star Jared Harris as Carrigan, who is a larger than life TV personality who left the academia world to become the host of basic cable TV show “Haunted House Cleaners. The rest of the cast includes Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Saxon Sharbino and Jane Adams.
Sam Raimi will be producing the reboot and contemporizes the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is invaded by angry spirits, because the home is built on a ancient burial ground. The terrifying apparitions end up taking the youngest daughter, and in the end the family must come together to rescue her from the spirit dimension.
Poltergeist will be rated PG-13 for “intense frightening sequences, brief suggestive material, and some language.”
Many of the images look familiar to the original, including a picture of the creepy ass clown, a cute little girl, and the famous picture of the girl touching the tv. I gotta admit the updated version does look even creepier than the original.
