The all-female cast of the Ghostbusters reboot has reportedly been chosen. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Melissa McCarthy has officially signed on for a lead role. (She was reportedly in negotiations earlier this month.) THR also reports that Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon are now in negotiations for their parts. The film begins shooting this summer.
The actresses reps have not said anything, however, Paul Feig tweeted the following photo just before the THR story posted.
Well folks, I think its safe to say that you can meet your Ghostbusters. Feig is most known for “Bridesmaids” and “The Heat,”. In an interview with EW.com, Feig explained his direction for the movie: “I love the first one so much I don’t want to do anything to ruin the memory of that. So it just felt like, let’s just restart it because then we can have new dynamics.”
There has not been any other casting decisions made but we are hearing rumblings that Bill Murray could join the film as…..a villain of sorts. He could be a “professional supernatural debunker.”
So what do you think of all of this? Are you excited about the casting decisions? Or do you wish that Vigo would suck this movie into one of his paintings never to be seen again?
