The upcoming Wii U game Mario Party 10 will be compatible with Amiibo figurines! Some of you might be wondering just what the hell is a Amiibo figurine? Well it’s a small toy figure that contains data and wirelessly communicates with your gaming system allowing you to use them in gameplay. Each Amiibo character will have a game board based on that character, so Yoshi will have a Yoshi-themed board, and so on.
The game works with nine different Amiibo: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, Rosalina, Donkey Kong, and Wario. If you use any Smash Bros. figurines, you will need to erase that Amiibo’s data first. If you want to play Amiibo mode on the game, you are required to have….surprise…. an Amiibo!
This kind of gaming is not my cup of tea. Call me an old fashioned gamer, but the whole toy thing throws me off. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s a rather interesting style of gaming that has been relevant for a little while now with the development of toys such as Skylanders. I’ll have to give them a try to better formulate an opinion. Check them out and let me know what you think, Mario Party 10 will be available for Wii U on March 20th, 2015.
