Viola Davis Nabs Role of ‘Amanda Waller’ in ‘Suicide Squad’ movie

Reportedly Viola Davis (The Help) has nabbed the role of Amanda Waller in David Ayer’s big screen adaptation of Suicide Squad.

So who exactly is Amanda Waller? She made her first appearance in Legends #1, (November 1986). Nicknamed “the Wall”, Amanda Waller is a former congressional aide and government agent who is placed in charge of the Suicide Squad, a semi-secret government-run group of former supervillains working in return for amnesty. Waller is extremely intelligent and has a no nonsense attitude. She is cold, calculated, and always makes sure that a mission is done correctly. She shares a mutual dislike with the criminals who serve on the Suicide Squad. She also gave Batman greif, who opposed the formation of the Suicide Squad. (This lady doesn’t take crap from anybody!)

Davis was eyed for the role of Amanda Waller as well as Oprah Winfrey and Octavia Spencer who were also said to be in the running. Davis joins an already amazing cast which includes Jared Leto, Will Smith, Tom Hardy, and Margot Robbie. The only possible issue is her TV schedule as Davis stars in How To Get Away With Murder. I’m sure they will find a way to work around that. What are your thoughts on the casting?
