Did you know that Warner Bros. started developing a sequel to The Conjuring before the first movie even opened? (Film studios seem to be doing that alot lately with many movies.) Well their bet paid off when The Conjuring grossed over $300 million worldwide.
The Conjuring spinoff Annabelle has proven to be a success as well, it has already reached around $166 million worldwide. The studio had scheduled an October 23, 2015 release for The Conjuring 2, but Warner Bros. pushed The Conjuring 2 back to 2016. So why was it pushed back? Your guess is as good as mine.
Warner Bros. however has scheduled an untitled horror film from New Line in its place on October 23, 2015. Deadline speculates that the unspecified project could be Crawlspace, starring Michael Vartan as a widower who moves into a house troubled by “a very disturbing secret from the past” (we haven’t heard that one before have we?) Or it could be Superstition, a movie set at “a house that was once the site of a witch’s execution.”
