Well I hope you enjoy PG-13 films, beacuse that is what you are going to get with Terminator Genisys.
Studios seem hesitant to take a risk on an R rated franchise picture, because they can appeal to a wider audience with a PG-13 rating. This leads to a watered down plot and watered down characters.
Look back at the original Terminator film, it was a smart adult orientated sci-fi (boarding on horror) and that’s what most fans want to see in a future Terminator film. A back to basics kind of film!
Terminator Genisys Actor Jai Courtney (who will be playing John Connor) has revealed the following in an interview with TheArnoldFans:
I would love to see it be rated R, but I don’t think it will, I think in this day & age, it’s much more likely to be PG-13. There were no f-bombs. But there’ll be a healthy amount of movie violence.
Wow – PG-13 movie violence, I can’t wait.
Seriously, look to the recent Robocop reboot. A PG-13 rating didn’t help that movie at the box office. Studios need to focus on making good quailty films and not mediocre ones and worry less about the damn rating!
Courtney also confirms that Arnold Schwarzenegger (who is the only person that could save the franchise) will return as the ageing cyborg for the next two movies, which also have release dates.
“Hard to imagine a Terminator film without Arnold. I guess we start filming – I think the plan is do the next 2 back to back in 2016.”
Terminator: Genisys hits theatres July 1st, 2015.
