It has been 23 years since we last saw Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) on the big screen. NO WAY! Yes way. The idea of making a third “Bill & Ted” film has been floating around for years. Alex and Keanu have expressed interest in reprising their roles too. It seems like it could be a reality as screenwriters had finally come up with a script that is worthy of the series.
Recently, Yahoo! UK chatted with Alex and asked him about Bill & Ted 3.
“[Bill & Ted] will be 40-something and it’s all about Bill and Ted grown up, or not grown up,” Winter tells us. “It’s really sweet and really f*****g funny.
“But it’s a Bill & Ted movie, that’s what it is. It’s for the fans of Bill & Ted. It fits very neatly in the [series]. It’s not going to feel like a reboot. The conceit is really funny: what if you’re middle-aged, haven’t really grown up and you’re supposed to have saved the world and maybe, just maybe, you kinda haven’t?”
“There’s many versions of ourselves in this movie,” he continues. “[It’s] answering the question: ‘What happened to these guys?’ They’re supposed to have done all this stuff, they weren’t the brightest bulbs on the tree, what happened 20 years later? To answer that question in a comedic way felt rich with possibility.”
I am so excited at the prospect of a new Bill & Ted movie. I love the idea of two old dudes still trying to grow up and maybe having to save the world. I wonder if they married the princesses? Who?……You’ll see! My only condition for the new film is that they do not touch the character of Rufus (George Carlin) No one can ever fill his shoes. Regardless of what happends, i’m just excited to see the Wyld Stallyns back on the screen. Stay tuned for more Bill & Ted news…..I guess that’s all I have to say…..SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES!
