So who gets taken this time? Well what we do know about the plot is that it will involve Brian Mills (Liam Neeson) with his particular set of skills and his daughter Kim – there will be no actual taking this time. Sorry! Neeson said he only signed on for 3 films on the provision that nobody was going to get Taken this time.
When the title of your movie is “Taken” – you’re kind of expecting someone to get taken. The name speaks for itself. Just sayin’.
USA Today revealed some new plot details, accompanying the first official stills.
Neeson explains that this time, “I have to go on the run, I’ll put it that way, from the not-so-lawful types and the lawful authorities. Bryan Mills served his country faithfully, but now even they are after him. They must not like me.”
One of these lawful authorities is played by Forrest Whitaker. It sounds like they will not go toe to toe. Whitaker jokes “That will have to wait until Taken 4.”
This is very interesting, it staring to sound a little like the Bourne movies. I suppose its refreshing to go another route in the Taken series, but I fear that the Bourne formula could wear thin.
“This time, no more traveling,” he said “If my daughter was ‘taken’ again on a trip, Bryan Mills would have to be certifiably locked up for bad parenting.” Maybe that’s why he’s on the run.
Taken 3 will be released sometime in January. Stay tuned for any more updates. I can’t wait to see Liam Neeson be intimidating on a telephone and also kicking the crap out of some thugs, how about you?
