NEW ZELDA GAME? It’s not what you think…

Wii U owners will have to wait anxiously for a brand-new, open-world Zelda that is generating a lot of buzz. The problem? You have to wait till the 2015 release.

In the meantime Nintendo is launching something weirder this month: Hyrule Warriors, a game that blends the Zelda universe with Dynasty Warriors.

Chances are you have never heard of Dynasty Warriors before, and that’s part of the problem.

Here is the trailer featuring some of the characters you can play as in Hyrule Warriors.

The game sounds like  an obscene amount of action. It’s not what you’d expect from a Zelda game.

From the looks of it there are many enemies to obliterate! Good god. I’ve heard in recent reviews that you have to kill an ungodly amount of enemies before even reaching the first boss. The combat I have heard is very tedious and the regular Zelda games do it so much better.

The game graphics are not superb from what I hear. The photo above is from actual game play. It seriously looks like it could be a PlayStation 2 game – or at best a first year Xbox 360 title. There is no strategy involved only keeping an eye on your home base. The only real novelty in Hyrule Warriors is the chance to play as another character other than Link in a Zelda game, but the combat is very similar for all characters.

I give Nintendo credit for trying to combine both series and do something a little different. Anytime you can cross different characters with each other, it’s always fun. The Repetitive gameplay seems like it could be tiring but looks like a button mashing good time. I think it could be good for a single game session or two. Give it a shot and see what you think – I know I will.
