Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Unmade Paul Reubens Version of ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’

Everyone is familiar with the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but little did we know that in 1983 Disney planned an earlier attempt at adapting Gary K. Wolf’s novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit? . The video down below shows animation tests for this with Paul Reubens (famous for portraying Pee Wee Herman) in the role of Roger Rabbit surfaced online a few years ago, but a recently uploaded clip has a behind-the-scenes featurette with the film’s animator Mike Giaimo, producer Marc Sturdivant, and animation director Darrell Van Citters discussing their version of the film and the technical processes involved in combining live-action and animated characters. Pretty cool stuff!
