Obi-Wan Kenobi To Have His Own STAR WARS Spin-Off Movie?

A new report from Making Star Wars  might just be the most interesting as their source has been in touch to tell them the following.

“I’ve heard from quite a few people now that an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie is in the works. For the spin-off movies they were initially going to stay away from any Jedi or Sith characters. But I’m hearing now that because of the popularity of Obi-Wan (fans recently voting for him on the official website etc) that an art team is now working with a writer on concepts for an Obi-Wan movie.”

This sounds more like an idea more than anything. I wouldn’t expect Obi-Wan to star in either Gareth Edwards or Josh Trank’s movies. The poll they’re referring to is a recent tournament which saw Obi-Wan Kenobi voted one of the best Star Wars characters of all-time. (that doesn’t mean that Obi-Wan could get his own movie.)

Lucasfilm’s focus seems to be on stories set after the events of the prequels, so that could rule out a movie exploring Obi-Wan’s youth.

I could see a film showing us what exactly Obi-Wan was up to between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. We obviously know that Obi-Wan ends up on Tatooine, but its hard to believe that Obi-Wan just spent all of his time in a hut as he kept a watchful eye on the young Luke Skywalker.

I would love to see a movie starring this character as he has a lot of potential, and as Ewan McGregor has expressed interest in reprising the role of Obi-Wan a number of times in the past.  What do you think? Would you like to see an Obi-Wan film or do you think another character deserves more exploration? Share your thoughts with us.
